Every nutrition label on every packaged food item in the United States features the same footnote: "Percent Daily Values are based on a 2,000 calorie diet." A 2,000 kcal baseline is practically useless for individual application. A 5'2" female office worker who drives to work and sits at a desk all day might only require 1,500 kcal to maintain her weight.
